Skytrans Cairns Marlins Confirm Fisher, Heuir Signings

 In QBL

The SKYTRANS Cairns Marlins are happy to confirm the services of Anthony Fisher and Damon Heuir for the 2016 QBL Season.

Returning for his second season with the Marlins, Heuir will be looking to build on a solid 2015 QBL campaign where he averaged 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

“Damon (Heuir) was one of our most consistent performers last QBL season. Adding to that his experience as a full-time member of the Taipans, I think he is set for a breakout QBL season,” Cairns Basketball General Manager, Mike Scott said.

In his first stint in the QBL, Fisher will be joining the Marlins after spending the 2015/16 NBL season as a development for the Cairns Taipans. Previous to that he was a development player for the Perth Wildcats and has played in the SEABL for his hometown team, the Ballarat Miners.

“We are getting an athletic player with a high basketball IQ in Fish (Anthony Fisher). He has played in the NBL, represented Australia as a junior and has been playing in the SEABL for a number of seasons.” Scott added.

The pair will join an already impressive Marlins squad which consists of Alex Loughton, Cameron Tragardh, Curt Ahwang, James Mitchell, Chris Daniel and Aaron Bin Tahal.

The Marlins start the season with a Mackay-Townsville road trip on 30th April. For more details contact Cairns Basketball on 4041 2145.
